Keep Indianapolis Beautiful kicks off fall community projects with a call for human beings because mannequins make bad volunteers
KIB calls Indianapolis to take part in dozens of fall tree plantings, greenspace projects, and litter cleanups

INDIANAPOLIS – (October 1, 2018) Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) kicks off its fall volunteer projects this week, preparing for a season of tree plantings, litter cleanups, greenspace creation, and invasive plant removal. With over 30 projects scheduled, KIB is calling on the community to help plant 2,200 trees, complete work on 5 community greenspaces, and organize 140 neighborhood cleanups between October 1 and November 17, 2018.

KIB volunteer projects are family-friendly and accessible to anyone wishing to participate. Opportunities are available every Saturday morning and on weekdays through mid-November. See the KIB event calendar and project signup at www.kibi.org/projects.

Three easy ways to volunteer with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful:
 
1. Plant a tree. Spend Saturday morning planting trees with friends and family in a neighborhood or park. KIB’s certified arborists will demonstrate how to plant a tree and provide all necessary tools. Visit www.kibi.org/events to sign up.

2. Adopt your block. Sign up to take care of your block year-round, and you can brandish your very own KIB litter grabber. As a block captain, you’re eligible for free cleanup supplies, native flowers, and trees. Visit www.kibi.org/adopt-a-block to join.

3. Coordinate a community cleanup. Visit www.greatindycleanup.com to select a date for your community cleanup. Complete the request form to receive resources and tools, such as gloves, trash bags, and access to dumpsters. Contact Allie Kast (317-264-7555) for more information.
