Inside the Lives of Indy’s Future Changemakers
By: Audrey Brinkers
Meet the 2025 Youth Tree Team
This incredible group of young leaders is planting more than just trees this summer; they’re planting seeds of connection, leadership, and impact across Indy. Each of these team leaders brings something special to the field: whether it’s a strong work ethic, a unique sense of humor, or a love of learning.
Get to know a few of the voices behind the shovels and smiles!
Teddy (He/Him) – Dayton University, Business
Teddy brings the energy of a future CEO with a serious passion for Chipotle, country music, and The Lion King. His favorite color is blue, and he’s got a soft spot for Socotra Dragon Trees and Scooby-Doo gummies. His dream job? TBD—but he could talk your ear off about how the Colts would’ve won a Super Bowl if Andrew Luck hadn’t retired.
Amelia (She/Her) – Indiana University, Political Science
A bright spirit with a pink pen and a playlist full of Tate McRae, Amelia’s favorites include tulips, sushi, and the Gilmore Girls. She’s all about “good vibes,” loves to travel and take photos, and dreams of becoming an advocate. Her go-to way to start the day? Snuggles from her kitty, of course.
Kasey (She/Her) – IU Bloomington, Ceramics
With a flair for The Office and a soft spot for sloths, Kasey is your go-to guide for pottery, concerts, and Pop-Tarts with milk. She’s most at home in a van (seriously—ask her about it), and dreams of leading rafting adventures down white water rapids. Her favorite tree? The weeping willow.
Lucy (She/Her) – Purdue University, Political Science
Lucy mixes poetry with policy. She’s a Howl’s Moving Castle fan who loves ramen noodles, nutcrackers, antiques, and good government talk. If you hear her sipping coffee like her life depends on it—that’s because it kind of does. Her dream? To one day be president.
Daylen (He/Him) – Lighthouse / IU Online, Psychology
Daylen brings humor and heart to the crew. He’s into the psychology of behavior, rocks a playlist featuring J. Cole and Rex Orange County, and starts his day by… simply opening his eyes. It’s all about the basics.
Maya (She/Her) – Indiana University, Environmental Studies
Equal parts mountain lady and Bridgerton fan, Maya’s all about the outdoors, Takis, and her dog named Bandit. She’s fascinated by longevity and Blue Zones, and dreams of a life spent backpacking, camping, and maybe chasing beagles across some highland trails.
Mae (She/Her) – IUPUI, Sustainability
A green-hearted leader who crochets, hikes, and collects seashells, Mae is a big fan of mac & cheese, Fleetwood Mac, and manatees. She’s team “TikTok to start the day,” and dreams of life as a park ranger. Favorite tree? A classic—Weeping Willow.
Grace (She/Her) – IU Bloomington, Environmental & Sustainability Studies
Grace is powered by forest green vibes, vinyl records, and her dog Bear. She’s passionate about Marvel, homemade syrups, rock climbing, and all things outdoors. Her Indy fave? North Mass Boulder. And if you ever need a Marvel/coffee/cooking expert—she’s your girl.
Paige (She/Her) – Purdue University, Kinesiology
Paige is all about green things—plants, places, and her favorite musical artist, The Weeknd. She loves Pride and Prejudice, collects snow globes, and has some serious opinions about how eyebrows shape your face. Future dream job? Anesthesiologist!
Kaylee (She/Her) – Scecina High School / Ball State Alum, Natural Resources & Environmental Management
Kaylee’s cheerful energy is matched only by her love for sunshine, chicken nuggets, and identifying stars and planets. A big fan of The Hunger Games, old jewelry, and sunflowers, she’s hoping for a job that keeps her outdoors more than in. Sounds like a perfect Youth Tree Team fit!
