Irish Hill based Progress House looks to add beauty in a currently underutilized lot just south of their location. The vision of this site will be to turn this lot into a tranquil gathering place for reflection and counsel for Progress House residents and others throughout the community. KIB looks forward to engaging other businesses in the area to beautify this stretch of Shelby Street as part of this project.
IMPORTANCE OF THIS PROJECT
This project will accomplish:
- Sustainability through reestablishing a natural landscape and engaging the surrounding community
- Quality of Life by preserving greenspace for residents of Irish Hill and Progress House
- Sociability by creating a space where community members can interact and engage with one another
- Accessibility by designing as park with the best interest of all community members in mind
DESIGN PROCESS
Progress house staff, board members, and current residents worked with designers from MKSK and the Indiana Historical Society to create this unique and vibrant design that serves needs of Progress House residents but also they hope will serve as a community space for Irish Hill residents as well.
