Ringgold Park
By: Jeremy Kranowitz
1513 RINGGOLD AVE; 46203
An underutilized neighborhood park given new life by incorporating native plantings and a refreshed plan by partnering with Indy Parks.
VISION FOR THE SPACE
Bates-Hendricks neighborhood residents are hoping to have a considerable impact on revitalizing their community park. Once a much larger part of the neighborhood, the park has been nearly eliminated by the construction of I-65. The committee is already making this park relevant again for the community members who live there by adding plantings and creating a new master plan to build on.
IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT
This project is working to accomplish:
- Sustainability through preserving the natural landscape and engaging the surrounding community
- Sociability by reconnecting and strengthening the community pride in an oft neglected public space in their community
- Accessibility by designing as park with the best interest of all community members in mind
THE DESIGN PROCESS
KIB and Mader Design are worked the Ringgold Park Greenspace Committee to plan for a community space that can be utilized by all residents.

WORK STATUS
Park design and plantings are completed, ready for more care and projects in the coming years. Come check out the greenspace!
