Summer of Plogging Series for Cleaner Trails and Roadways Kicks Off This Weekend
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and November Project host a running + picking up litter 6k series this summer

INDIANAPOLIS – (June 14, 2018) Keep Indinanapolis Beautiful (KIB) and the November Project (NP) are bringing the Swedish fitness trend, plogging, to benefit Indianapolis trails and walkways. From the Swedish phrase plocka upp, plogging is picking up trash while jogging.

The first plog in the series happens on June 16 at 10 a.m., beginning at Centerpoint Brewing. November Project, a free fitness movement, will lead ploggers on a 6k walk/run litter pickup north on the Monon Trail. KIB is providing trash bags and gloves as part the Great Indy Cleanup program.

Centerpoint Brewing is offering a free pint to all ploggers who return with a full bag of trash.

JUNE PLOGGING EVENT DETAILS

  • WHEN: Saturday, June 16 | 10:00 a.m.
  • WHERE: Center Point Brewing | 1125 E. Brookside Ave, Indianapolis, IN
  • WHAT: A free 6k run/walk (with a glove and trash bag!) to benefit a cleaner Monon Trail
  • COST: Free! #JustShowUp

The Great Indy Cleanup, a partnership between KIB and the City of Indianapolis, is a citywide effort to strengthen and beautify our community. From April through October, residents can apply for a community cleanup that KIB will support with cleaning supplies, dumpsters and other resources. In April 2018, nearly 4,500 volunteers participated in over 165 community cleanups to collect 259 tons of litter.
