Indianapolis’ Riverside Park to Undergo Habitat Restoration Project with Community Support

INDIANAPOLIS – (May 15, 2018) NextGear Capital will partner with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) and Indy Parks on Wednesday, May 16 to aid in a habitat restoration project to remove invasive plants from Riverside Park. Urban landscapes free of invasive species provide native plants and wildlife the space they need to grow and thrive. Riverside Park, located on the city’s near west side, is undergoing a renovation project which will develop the park into a premier recreational and cultural center.

The master renovation plan includes expansion of the parks amenities such as gaining greater access to the White River, building a small event venue, new trails offering play experiences for children - including sensory and special needs friendly equipment, and expansion of the family center café. NextGear Capital employees will help to make Riverside Park a better place for families who live in the surrounding communities.

VISUALS: Shane O’Dell, president of NextGear Capital and KIB staff will be available for on-camera interviews at 9 a.m. Upwards of 100 volunteers will be onsite picking up trash and removing invasive plants.
