NextGear Capital employees to volunteer with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful in second annual Day of Service
INDIANAPOLIS – (April 10, 2019) NextGear Capital will partner with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) on Wednesday, April 10 to plant 130 trees in one of the city’s stormwater basins. The planting is part of a partnership KIB has with Citizen’s Energy Group to plant 10,000 trees to mitigate stormwater over flow. Tree species for NextGear Capital’s project include oak, sycamore, tulip tree, gingko, catalpa, and sugar maple trees and will be rooted on Meridian Street from 54th to 43rd Street. Trees help reduce the effects of urban heat island and storm water runoff, while providing protection from harmful UV rays, among other natural benefits.
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and Citizen’s Energy Group has partnered with the Indianapolis Department of Public Works to begin a long-term partnership to plant 10,000 trees across the city as a way to create greener neighborhoods and reduce combined sewer overflows to area waterways. 10 Thousand Trees is an initiative in support of Citizens Energy Group's $2B investment that will nearly eliminate combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to area waterways by 2025.
