Wheelbarrows: The Unsung Heroes of KIB

As I've sorted through hundreds of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful pictures from over the years, I've noticed a common thread: Wheelbarrows. These one wheeled, two legged beauties are everywhere in project photos, carrying shovels, flowers, and dirt. Here's a look back at some of the wheelbarrows of KIB.

Here's a KIB Wheelbarrow assisting with a flower giveaway for our Adopt - A - Block program. Each spring, blocks with an average cleanliness score of 2 or better (on a 4 point scale) are eligible to receive free flowers to plant in their neighborhood, and our wheelbarrows love to be there to congratulate the people who have worked so hard to keep their block litter-free.

The best thing about our KIB Wheelbarrows is their range of talents. Delicate enough to distribute flowers, but still strong and sturdy enough to carry shovels and rakes off to a tree planting, like this project in 2004.

Another thing we love about our wheelbarrows is their sense of teamwork and comradery. Here's a trio of KIB Wheelbarrows surveying all the plants and supplies they brought to this worksite and congratulating each other on a job well done.

We couldn't be more grateful to have a team of wheelbarrows that is so beautiful inside and out. They've had a bit of time off over the winter, but they are very excited for 2017 projects to kick off. Be on the lookout for these majestic pieces of equipment this spring and summer.
