Meet the Members of ILS: Meghan DeMars Kiger

One of the great things about Keep Indianapolis Beautiful is that there’s a little something for everyone. If you’re passionate about the city you can come out to plant trees in the parks with us on a Saturday morning. If you want to build a stronger community, you can adopt your block and organize a litter cleanup with your neighbors. And if you’re a weekend warrior then plogging is probably right up your alley – pun definitely intended!

It’s no surprise that the inaugural cohort of the Indy Leaders in Sustainability is made up of people from all different backgrounds and interests. We caught up with Meghan DeMars Kiger, Executive Vice President at Gershman Partners to ask her about why she joined the group.

KIB: Meghan, what motivated you to join ILS?

Meghan: Our company is always interested in how to better our environment, our community, our future, and of course being a real estate development firm, our operating expenses. I also firmly believe in being active in my community, having served on the board of several local non-profits and am currently the President of the Athenaeum Foundation Board.

KIB: We have a GreenSpace at the Athenaeum! So, Meghan, what is your favorite sustainability feature in Indianapolis?

Meghan: The Monon is probably my favorite, but all of the added bike trails in and around Indianapolis have truly created an alternative method of transportation that has been revolutionary.

KIB: Where can we find you in nature?

Meghan: I love boating and beaching with my husband and three kids, especially up in Pentwater, Michigan – my favorite color is even aqua because it reminds me of the water.

KIB: We appreciate you being part of this group and thank you for sharing a little bit about yourself!
