VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: OCTOBER 2011

David Feinberg and Maureen Keller

Occupation:
David: CPA, Crowe Horwath LLP
Maureen:
Adjunct Faculty, Ivy Tech Community College and GED instructor in the correctional system

How long have you been volunteering with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful?
2 years

Why do you choose to volunteer with KIB?
We were looking for an environmentally-minded organization that is making a concentrated effort at improving the quality of our city.

What impact do you feel that the work with KIB has on the community?
KIB’s projects foster a greater sense of community where it is needed most. It’s also impressive to see just how many cultural and green events that KIB supports.

What is your favorite memory of volunteering with KIB?
David: Meeting Shirley, a 53-year resident of the Near-Eastside during Crowe Horwath’s September Day of Service and seeing her excitement about the tree planting in her neighborhood.
Maureen:
Planning SOLAR’s tour of the IMA 100 Acres last year and experiencing a great turnout of young professionals.

Why would you encourage others to volunteer with KIB?
It’s easy, it’s fun, and it helps our city. We are so proud to be friends of KIB!
