Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. partners with all neighborhoods, all income levels, to green up the city and increase the canopy cover of Indianapolis. If you prefer to volunteer in an area that faces stronger environmental or economic challenges, please let us know and we will try to match you with a project where your impact can be made.

This project is full
This is a renovation of an existing playground. Activities will include painting the playhouse, installing a new piece of playground equipment or two, repairing some of the curb holding in the playground mulch, spreading more mulch, building a new paver walkway to access the playground, planting a few trees and flowers, and more. Located at 30 N. Audobon Road.

Join us as we transform a plot of land in the White River State Park into a demonstration urban farm. KIB will provide design assistance, plant material and with the help of volunteers, will plant vegetables and build garden structures.

We will be spreading compost over the entire garden area and pulling weeds in preparation for a demonstration garden in this urban neighborhood. This project could also take place from 1:00 - 5:00 pm if a group is available.

We will be planting 20 trees around the Jordan YMCA to provide shade for visitors and beauty along the roadway. Located at 8400 Westfield Boulevard.

We will be completing the upper level for a terraced vegetable garden behind the Food Pantry for the clients to grow their own vegetables. Activities include roto-tilling the soil, digging, cutting back weed trees, spreading mulch, and picking up litter. Located at 3001 E. 30th Street.

We will be weeding and mulching their entire forest grove in front of their school. Located at 2021 Sloan Avenue, on the southeast side. This project could also take place on Friday, April 9th if a group is available.

We will be planting 5 new trees to replace 5 trees that did not make it from a planting last year. We will also be mulching trees and perennials that were planted last year. Located at 7555 E. 56th St. This project could also take place from 1:00 - 4:00 pm if a group is available.

This condominium development has requested trees for their common areas. We will be replacing dying crabapple trees with beautiful native trees. This development is close to Fall Creek, so we will plant only native trees in this neighborhood. Located at 5201 Knob Lane.

This near east side neighborhood is working to maintain a healthy tree canopy in their community. Volunteers are invited to help residents plant in this historic Indianapolis neighborhood.

Join us as we work with the Athenaeum Foundation to transform the north lawn of the historic Athenaeum building downtown with the installation of a sustainable landscape. This landscape will include a native vegetative filter, paver patios, benches and educational signage.
KIB's Great Indy Cleanup Kick-Off event is looking for volunteer groups interested in assisting communities with their neighborhood cleanups on Saturday, April 17th as part of the annual citywide cleanup effort. Your group will be put into contact with a participating community's Cleanup Coordinator to get involved with their particular cleanup needs. Volunteer Groups only, please. (Please see Every Litter Bit Helps Campaign if you are an individual wishing to participate.)

For Earth Day, we will be planting up to 10 trees around the campus, as well as mulching them. We will also plant vegetables in the raised beds. We will also weed and re-mulch their playground area as well as build a boot rack, a hill with a slide, a climbing wall, and plant some strawberries. Located at 5249 David St.

This is Crystal Pointe’s fourth tree planting with KIB. They are adding street trees to fill in gaps where there are no street trees. Located near Carrol Road and E. 86th St.

Neighborhoods, churches, schools, and many other volunteers are joining together with IndyParks and KIB to remove invasive species such as honeysuckle from a section of Pogues Run Creek, and will be replanting this area with native vegetation. Trees and shrubs that will be planted will be an excellent source of food and habitat for birds and other wildlife. Come join in the fun! Located near Rural Street and Brookside Parkway S. Drive.

East Washington St. is in great need of trees to slow traffic and reduce street pollution and noise. Please come out and help neighborhood volunteers plant trees and transform the appearance of Washington Street just West of Shadeland Avenue. Afterward, celebrate with the neighborhood at their Fiesta!

Westbrooke neighborhood was once a large farmland..this neighborhood wants to restore the woods in the common areas of their development and attract wildlife while providing shade to the playground and other areas. Located at 6500 Cougar Court.

We will be continuing with an ongoing beautification project. We will be planting perennials and grasses and mulching around the school. Located at 8201 N. Ditch Road. This project can also happen on Wednesday May 12th or Thursday May 13th depending on the schedule of the group. This project can also take place from 1:00 – 4:00 pm if that is better for the group.

We will be planting a neighborhood garden for the first time at the corner of 26th St. and Guildford Ave. It is a large vacant lot that has been cleared of weeds and debris and was prepared last fall and winter for it’s inaugural planting this spring. This project can also take place from 1:00 – 4:00 pm if that is better for the group.
