PLANT A DVD. GROW A TREE!
Have you ever wanted to contribute more to KIB, but fundraisers are really not your thing and you’re maxed out on time?
If so, KIB’s SOLAR Young Professionals’ group has the perfect solution: Drop your used books, DVDs, video games and CDs off at KIB’s office, and profits from their online re-sale will go directly to KIB!
Every donation counts:
20 books will buy 12 pairs of gloves
15 CD's will buy a flat of annual flowers
32 DVD's will buy 2 cubic yards of mulch
38 video games will buy one large tree
Giggil, an Indianapolis based company that specializes in selling used books and media online, will take care of all the processing, selling and check-cutting. Consider it a "Stuffraiser," instead of a fundrasier, since it allows donors like you to give goods instead of cash. Giggil actually stands for “Green Is Good, Good Is Less,” and all unsold items are recycled.
Use this option when deciding what to do with those stacks of media, and contact Laura Fox with any questions: lfox@kibi.org or 317.264.7555 x100.
FAQs
When and where can I drop off my used CD’s, books, video games and DVD’s?
You can drop off your Giggil items at the KIB office (1029 Fletcher Ave. Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46203) anytime 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday – Friday. We are collecting items now through December 31, 2011.
How does my bringing in books and CD’s to KIB result in cash for KIB?
Giggil resells all of your items that you brought to KIB online with the proceeds of the items you brought to KIB, going back to KIB. With that money KIB, can purchase more flowers, mulch and trees.
I’ve got lots of books and CD’s I could donate, what items have the greatest resale value and therefore would generate more money for KIB?
DVD’s, video games and books in good condition are the top sellers
Is there anything I can’t drop off?
VHS tapes really don’t bring in the cash, as you might expect, so stick to the ABCD’s: video gAmes, Books, CDs and DVDs.
KIB will be working with Giggil to hold a "Stuffraiser," which is similar to a traditional fundraiser in that it relies on donations, but allows donors to give goods instead of cash.
A Stuffraiser is just one more way that we can work together to keep Keep Indianapolis Beautiful’s programs going and the best part is that it doesn’t even require any money. If you would like to support Keep Indianapolis Beautiful we encourage you to bring your used books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks and video games to KIB, and drop them off to be re-sold. If you are unable to donate, please help spread the word. Talk to neighbors, friends, colleagues, roommates or hit the streets looking for anybody who is looking to help a good cause and get rid of a little extra stuff.
