Tell us a little about yourself.
Originally from Michigan, I've lived in Indy for five years. I am interior designer and artist, working on my own thing right now. I actually decided to move to Indy with a dart throw... more figuratively than literally... No regrets yet! I enjoy walking around downtown, recycling everything, reusing everything, and craft beer. I like a lot of things. I dislike when people dump hot coffee into the trash bins at coffee shops.
Why did you first support SOLAR?
After moving here, I found KIB online and was very impressed with the organization and always tried to stay updated with what they were doing. A friend of mine later told me about SOLAR, and I was stoked to join this group of like-minded peers. And the events were perfect for helping me learn more about the city and the environment.
Do you have a favorite KIB experience or memory?
There have been numerous SOLAR events that were amazing - the Trader's Point Creamery tour is maybe my fave. But as far as KIB goes, I loved the First Friday art show they did with the RCA Dome artwork. There was wonderful food and drinks, and the art was so intriguing (and did I mentioning I like reusing things?).
What keeps you involved?
I enjoy all of the learning opportunities that SOLAR offers. Indianapolis is so engaging because of the visible improvements being made everyday, and the future of the city seems quite spectacular - so many wonderful plans and ideas. I want to be a part of that transition as much as I can.
Do you have a favorite place in the city?
I guess my favorite would be the top floor in the central library. It doesn't matter if it's rain or shine, I love observing the layout of the city, watching planes fly into the airport, and thinking about what everything will look like in a few years. I haven't been to the 100 Acres at the IMA enough to call it a favorite, but I'm sure it will work it's way up there soon. And I'm kind of obsessed with my downtown apartment.
