What part of town do you live in?
What do you like about it? Butler-Tarkington. It’s a quick drive, an easy bike ride with bike lanes or a relaxing bus ride on IndyGo’s #28 to downtown. I love the mature trees, not only in our yard but throughout the neighborhood, that provide much needed shade for this fair lady.

Where do you like to spend time outdoors?
You can bank on finding me on the Central Canal Towpath with my four legged fur kids on most days, taking in Holcomb Gardens and making our way through Butler University. I love the wildlife along the canal – from the turtles to the geese and squirrels. It’s amazingly peaceful and re-energizing to connect with nature a few steps from my driveway.

What places in Indianapolis inspire you?
The Cultural Trail knocks my socks off. It gives me great hope that our city can make the built environment work for all users and modes – pedestrians, cyclists and cars. The beauty of the trail and the way it connects to various hot spots, lined with native plants and storm water planters, inspires me to get moving and enjoy it all.

Why do you support KIB?
The mission of KIB resonates with me on so many levels from the environmentalist to the community advocate in me. I know that every dollar I give and every minute I volunteer makes an impact in my community.

KIB has one of the best programs for volunteers in our city. Your time is never wasted, and you see the results of your work right away. I love going through neighborhoods and looking for the trees I planted with KIB. The staff radiates energy and makes taking care of our environment contagiously fun.

If were describing KIB to a friend, what three words would you use?
Rewarding. Impactful. Amazing.

What else are you involved in within the community?
Indianapolis Animal Care & Control, IU Alumni Association, IndyCog and Near North Development Corp.

What else would you like to tell us about yourself?
I’m a tree-hugging, veggie loving, bike riding, dog walking Hoosier.
