Telecommunications/Roche Diagnostics/Senior Specialist, Voice Support
What neighborhood do you live in?
What is the most inspiring place in Indianapolis?
I love the revitalization of Downtown. I particularly enjoy the area surrounding the canal. There’s something very peaceful walking along the canal and taking in all of the sights and sounds.
How long have you supported Keep Indianapolis Beautiful?
This is my second year working with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. Roche Diagnostics introduced me to KIB last year during a company sponsored event where we planted 200 trees at Pogue’s Run Conservation Corridor at Brookside Park.
Why do you volunteer with KIB?
Working with KIB is very rewarding. Everyone that comes out to volunteer wants to give back to the community and the KIB staff is very knowledgeable. I learn something new every time I volunteer. It’s also a great feeling knowing the work you do today will have lasting effect on the community. My daughter said after planting trees this past weekend, “I will be able to bring my children here and show them the work we have done today.”
What impact do you feel that the work with KIB has on the community?
It has a great impact on the community. I think too often in today’s hustle and bustle times people take nature for granted. When you plant a tree or build a vegetable garden people stop and think twice about the nature around them.
What else are you involved in within the community?
I truly enjoy volunteering my time within the community. I have been involved in Boy Scouting for the past 10 years. Participated in numerous Habitat for Humanity home building projects. Donate blood to the Indiana Blood Center on a regular basis.
Why would you encourage others to support KIB?
You can immediately see the fruits of your labor and then watch it grow. There’s something about sweat equity that truly makes work with KIB rewarding.
If you were describing KIB to a friend, what three words would you use?
Refreshing, Rebuilding, Rewarding
