| Significance of Tree: |
This tree is not only tall and wide,
but it has beautiful and sweetly fragrant blossoms in the spring,
which are replaced by amusingly long bean-shaped seed pods during the
summer months. The tree still bears
traces of the chain-link fencing of days from when White River State
Park was an industrial area, but ivy now conceals most of those
traces. The bench beside the tree is a beautiful spot to sit on
a sunny day, and
I know that many visitors to White River Park must share my
sentiments. |
| Address of Tree: |
This tree is located in White River
State Park, roughly between the Visitors' Center and the Indianapolis
Waterworks building. It is just to the side of the circular sidewalk
and is by far the largest tree in
the park! |
