The City of Indianapolis offers Marion County residents TWO options for recycling typical household materials:
Free Drop-Off Recycling Program - Recycle Indianapolis
The Recycle Indianapolis program is a partnership between the City of Indianapolis and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. This is a free program, where residents can drop off the following recyclable materials at any of the 27 drop-off sites around Marion County:
- steel and aluminum food and beverage cans
- empty aerosol cans
- glass
- #1 through #7 plastics (no molded foam packing)
- newspapers and magazines
In 2008, residents recycled nearly 13 million pounds of materials through this program!

Curbside Recycling Program (fee)
The City of Indianapolis also offers curbside recycling to all Indianapolis residents (single family residences only). It is on a subscription basis and has a nominal monthly fee.
