EVENT RECYCLING TEAM

The purpose of the Event Recycling Team is to provide beverage container recycling at events in Marion County, and at the same time to educate and build awareness for recycling with residents of, and visitors to, Indianapolis.

Indy 500, May 20-25 | Roof Blow Off!, May 29

Jazz Fest, June 13 - 15 | Eiteljorg Indian Market, June 20 - 21

You must be 16 years or older to be an ERT Volunteer.

As part of the Recycle Indianapolis initiative, resources for recycling will be provided at several major events throughout the year.  The Event Recycling Team (ERT) volunteers will be responsible for the collection of recyclable beverage containers at major public events.  Media Release 06-14-07.

This is a DIRTY JOB!!!! For that reason, and for safety reasons, we are asking that volunteers be at least 16 years of age (for younger children accompanied with an adult volunteer, please contact volunteer coordinator: Tammy Stevens, 264-7555, ext. 116.

The first shift of volunteers will help set up the recycling bins, the last shift in breaking down.

All shifts will be responsible for monitoring/maintaining the recycling bins. What this means is that you will be taking any trash out of the recycling bin (with a litter picker-upper), and putting it in the trash. Also, we’ll be looking for recyclables in the trash and transferring to the recycling bin (within reason!). When the bags are full, you will replace the bags with an empty and put the full bag on the golf cart. When the golf cart is full, the bags will then be taken to the collection dumpster.

Volunteers will also have recycling information available in case festival attendees are interested.

Now for the perks!
You get into the event for free! You get a really cool T-shirt! As an Event Recycling Team member, you will get a t-shirt, in the size that you prefer, to wear at each event that you work.

You’ll sleep better at night knowing that you’ve done a wonderful thing by not only providing education to those who need it, but by also keeping valuable resources out of the landfill!

This program will not work without you, so if you volunteer for a shift, please make it a priority. If you cannot be there for that shift, please let either Lisa or Tammy know as soon as possible so that we can fill your shift. While you are volunteers, by signing up you are making a commitment that the rest of us are depending upon you to fulfill.

Thank you so very much for your time, energy, and commitment! We hope to see you at the next ERT event!
