    About this Club

Eleanor Skillen School #34 has put together a hardworking and enthusiastic group of students to be a part of their KIB Club!  Ready to dig-in, these kids are looking forward to utilizing more of their school campus for outdoor learning and play.  The club is most excited about creating raised garden beds so that fresh vegetables can be added to the school’s already existing food pantry.

    The Design Process

Eleanor Skillen KIB Club students put thoughtful effort into their landscape design plan!  There was even a debate as to which space around the school was best suited for the outdoor classroom.  In the end, students chose the front courtyard so that the entire neighborhood would see the space and hopefully come use it! Hitchcock Design Group listened to all of the ideas from students and teachers and turned them into a beautiful design!

    What the Students are Learning

Through their tree education unit, Eleanor Skillen students are becoming very familiar with the different types of trees around the school.  And thanks to a visit from Warren Gartner with Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the club kids got some expert instruction on how to discover what is living in their trees!
