Because of the success and
strength of these relationships, IPL, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and Indy
Parks created a formal partnership in 2005.
IPL provides the funding for the trees, as well as program promotion; Indy
Parks maintains the trees—ensuring viability and survivability; and Keep
Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. manages the community tree plantings--
providing the staff and volunteers to plant the trees.
The purpose of Trees for Tomorrow is to…
-
Significantly increase
plantings of public trees in Indianapolis (and surrounding IPL service
areas;
-
Provide care to those trees
to enhance their longevity;
-
Educate the public about
the importance of trees to our quality of life; planting the right tree in
the right place.
Over 500 mature trees were
planted through Trees for Tomorrow in 2005. Trees were planted in local
parks and along thoroughfares.
