Only two weeks left to receive $20 off of a tree through KIB’s My Tree and Me campaign

INDIANAPOLIS – (November 4, 2010) The “My Tree and Me”coupon campaign—a partnership between Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) and local nurseries—is drawing to a close; the innovative coupon campaign designed to promote and encourage residential tree planting in Indianapolis is set to end on November 19.

The program features a $20 coupon that can be used towards the purchase of a tree at participating tree retailers. Consumers must buy a tree of 1” caliper or larger. There is no limit to the number of trees homeowners can purchase, but there must be a coupon presented for each tree purchased. Coupons and a complete list of retailers are available at the “My Tree and Me” website, www.mytreeandme.org, or picked up at participating retailers. The program began in mid September and will end on November 19, or until 1,000 tree coupons have been redeemed, whichever comes first. Coupons will be redeemed on a first come, first served basis.

“We hope residents will use this opportunity to contribute to our NeighborWoods goal and save money at the same time,” said David Forsell, KIB’s president. “Many retailers are having end of the year sales, and that coupled with the $20 coupon campaign means real savings for Marion County residents.”

Participants have the chance to see first hand the impact that their tree has on the community, by visiting www.mytreeandme.org. This site features an interactive tree locator map, which populates as trees are purchased, downloadable maintenance tips, videos on proper planting techniques, and great information on the benefits of trees. This program would not be possible without the generous support from donors Mike and Sue Smith.

My Tree and Me is part of KIB’s ongoing NeighborWoods initiative to increase tree canopy in Marion County by planting 100,000 large trees in Indianapolis by 2017. More than 20,000 trees have already been planted by KIB and the City of Indianapolis in public places, parks, and neighborhoods since the program’s inception in 2006.
