NORTH SQUARE SUSTAINABILITY TRAIL
Making Connections and Becoming Green
Location: Along Leonard St. between Virginia Ave and Calvary St., North Square Neighborhood
Description: In 2009, we worked with the North Square Neighborhood Association to build a walking / biking path that connects the neighborhood to Virginia Avenue and the upcoming Cultural Trail. This project consisted of the installation of a pathway as well landscape and hardscape elements to add interest. A major component of the trail is the native plant and tree species which attract beneficial insects and birds as well as add texture and color. Three rain gardens were installed and have been very effective in controlling rain water runoff.
