Vectren Foundation to Help Fund 2012 by 2012 Super Bowl Tree Initiative

INDIANAPOLIS – The Evansville-based Vectren Foundation has awarded Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) with a $5,000 grant in support of its NeighborWoods program.

Funding from the grant will back the “2012 by 2012” tree planting initiative; a partnership between the Indianapolis 2012 Host Committee, Near Eastside Legacy Project and KIB to plant 2012 trees on the Near Eastside by the 2012 Super Bowl. This is an extension of KIB’s NeighborWoods program; an urban forestry effort that aims to plant 100,000 trees by 2017.

Trees will be planted by hundreds of neighbors, volunteers, and businesses, and will help further the goals of NeighborWoods by contributing to healthier, stronger, safer neighborhoods where businesses and families thrive.

2012 by 2012 will continue to impact Indianapolis and its surrounding areas years after the 2012 Super Bowl has passed. For more information visit http://www.our2012sb.com/2012-trees or www.kibi.org.
