Phone Book Recycling Challenge

WHAT: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, AT&T Real Yellow Pages and Republic Waste & Recycling Services of Indiana (Republic Services) are offering Indianapolis schools the opportunity to earn cash prizes for redirecting outdated phone books from the landfill to the recycling center.

As part of the first Indiana Project ReDirectory phone book recycling school challenge, four schools will have a chance to win $50 for each ton (up to $250) of outdated directories collected. The school collecting the most directories (minimum of two tons) will win an additional $250.

WHEN: Oct. 29 – Dec. 6

WHERE: Community members can drop off directories at*:
• Cold Spring Academy, 3650 Cold Spring Road
• Craig Middle School, 6501 Sunnyside Road
• Greenbrier Elementary School, 8201 Ditch Road
• Southport High School, 971 E. Banta Road

*Additional Recycling Locations
In addition to the four school locations, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful has established seven new recycling drop-off locations that will accept outdated phone books until Dec. 15. The locations are:
• Broad Ripple Park, 450 Broad Ripple Avenue (Boat Ramp Parking Lot, near Family Center)
• Circle City Recycling, 3617 Southeastern Avenue
• Langsdale Recycling, 832 Langsdale Avenue
• Perry Park, 415 E. Stop 11 Road
• Product Development Corp Warehouse, 3000 S. Shelby Street Republic Services, 96th Street Transfer Station
• Sahm Park, 6801 E. 91st Street

Households subscribing to curbside recycling through Republic Services will also be able to place outdated directories in curbside recycling bins.

City of Indianapolis residents and businesses can refer to the Keep Indianapolis Beautiful website www.kibi.org for more information about recycling outdated phone books in Indianapolis. Residents and businesses in Indianapolis and the surrounding communities can call AT&T Project ReDirectory at 1-800-953-4400 for more information about recycling outdated phone books in Indianapolis.
