KIB's Youth Tree Team selected as a Youth Working for Indy grant recipient
INDIANAPOLIS – (June 29, 2010) The Central Indiana Community Foundation has announced that the Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) Youth Tree Team has been named as a grant recipient through the City of Indianapolis Community Crime Prevention’s Youth Working for Indy summer jobs initiative. KIB received $57,666.00 from Youth Working for Indy to hire 32 youth to work as members of the Youth Tree Team.
KIB’s Youth Tree Team program (YTT) is a ten-week paid summer program that employs current high school students to preserve and maintain trees throughout Marion County. Specifically, teams of 8 YTT members work together outdoors to water, mulch, prune and stake trees in Indianapolis as well as track the plantings through GPS for further maintenance.
“The generous funding that we have received from the Youth Working for Indy summer jobs initiative will ensure the continuation of this impactful program,” said David Forsell, KIB president. “We are proud to have such a great group of young leaders working with us to join together sustainable education and community involvement.”

Youth Working for Indy is a young adult jobs initiative that hires teens ages 15-20 who may live in socially and economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. The program teaches at-risk youth to earn summer income and develop a work history, while also increasing the capacity of the agencies' summer programs.
