KIB wants to see your knotty pictures

INDIANAPOLIS – (September 27, 2011) In an effort to spread the word about Keep Indianapolis Beautiful’s NeighborWoods initiative—a goal to plant 100,000 trees in Indy by 2017—KIB is hosting a photo contest with the Indianapolis Star. Share your photos, and have a chance to be a featured artist at an upcoming First Friday event!

Participants can upload their best tree photos to www.IndyStar.com/knottypics, to show the beauty of trees and their impact on the community. Multiple photos can be submitted, though the contest ends October 21, so participants are encouraged to upload early, and often!

The best 200 images will be professionally printed, mounted—on cedar shakes re-used from an urban garden project—displayed, and sold in a First Friday showcase at KIB on November 4. All proceeds will go back into KIB’s NeighborWoods program to get more trees in the ground, and make Indianapolis a better place to live, work, and visit. Those interested in submitting photos for the contest, but need creative inspiration, are encouraged to join KIB on an upcoming tree planting.
