Keep Indianapolis Beautiful working all over Indy on beautification projects this weekend

INDIANAPOLIS – (April 8, 2011) Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) will be working all over the city this weekend on numerous beautification and community improvement projects. Hundreds of Indy residents will be out volunteering their time; due in large part to the Great Indy Cleanup, a citywide effort to beautify and strengthen our communities. This program is a partnership with KIB and the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services, and support from the Department of Public Works and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Development. WHO: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc., Mayor Greg Ballard and Irvington Terrace Neighborhood
WHAT: Great Indy Cleanup – Irvington Terrace Community Cleanup
WHERE: Irvington Plaza (Near East Washington Street & Shadeland Avenue)
WHEN: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 9 A.M. TO 1 P.M.
Mayor Ballard to greet volunteers and make remarks at 12:00 P.M. KIB and more than 100 Irvington Terrace Neighborhood volunteers will take part in a litter cleanup of the cloverleaf at Shadeland Ave and East Washington Street and Pennsy Trail in Irvington Plaza.

WHO: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. and Devington Communities Association
WHAT: Great Indy Cleanup
WHERE: Devington Shopping Plaza - 6000 E. 46th St. (Northeast Corner of 46th/ Arlington Ave.)
WHEN: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 9 A.M. TO 1 P.M.
Volunteers will be planting trees and cleaning up areas to prepare the community garden for planting.

WHO: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc.
WHAT: Great Indy Cleanup
WHERE: Pleasant Run Creek (Near Shadeland Avenue and East 16th Street)
WHEN: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 8 A.M. TO 12 P.M.
KIB and Warren Township volunteers will be cleaning up litter and illegal dumping along Pleasant Run Creek, from Shadeland Avenue southwest to East 10th Street.

WHO: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. and Warren Pride
WHAT: Great Indy Cleanup
WHERE: Post Road Christian Church (1112 N Post Rd, in the gym behind the church)
WHEN: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 8 A.M. TO 12 P.M.
Warren Pride volunteers, along with KIB, will cleanup thoroughfares from all through Warren Township, more than 500 volunteers are expected.

WHO: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. and Millersville at Fall Creek Valley
WHAT: Millersville Streetscape Tree Planting and Great Indy Cleanup
WHERE: Near Emerson Avenue & East 56th Street
WHEN: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 9 A.M. TO 12 P.M.
KIB with the Millersville at Fall Creek Valley will be planting trees to beautify the commercial areas of Windridge//Emerson Way and 56th Street.

WHO: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. Youth Tree Team
WHAT: Youth Tree Team Tree Planting
WHERE: Garfield Park (2505 Conservatory Dr.)
WHEN: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 9 A.M. TO 12 P.M.
More than 100 Indy youth will be planting 150 trees in Garfield Park as part of their application process to join KIB’s Youth Tree Team.

WHO: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. KIB Clubs
WHAT: KIB Clubs School Great Indy Cleanup
WHERE: Brook Park Elementary (5259 David St.)
WHEN: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 9 A.M. TO 12 P.M.
More than 50 parents and students will be out taking part in the Great Indy Cleanup on school grounds and within the neighborhood.

WHO: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. and Jewish Community Center
WHAT: Community Garden Building
WHERE: Jewish Community Center (6701 Hoover Rd.)
WHEN: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 9 A.M. TO 12 P.M.
The JCC is starting a community garden with KIB. More than 50 volunteers will come out to help construct 30 raised gardening beds to be used by individuals and families for planting.
