2nd Annual Every Litter Bit Helps Campaign Boosts Efforts of the Great Indy Cleanup Kickoff Event

INDIANAPOLIS – Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc.’s (KIB) 2nd annual “Every Litter Bit Helps” campaign will support the Great Indy Cleanup kickoff event on Saturday, April 17th. “Every Litter Bit Helps” provides individuals who do not belong to a neighborhood organization/group the opportunity to participate in the day’s citywide cleanup.

The “Great Indy Cleanup” is a partnership between KIB and the City of Indianapolis to reduce the amount of litter throughout the city. In 2009, KIB created the “Every Litter Bit Helps” campaign as a way to help get individuals involved in the one-day citywide kick-off event of the “Great Indy Cleanup” program. Approximately 250 individuals participated in the campaign in its inaugural year.

To participate in the “Every Litter Bit Helps” campaign, individuals can visit any YMCA of Greater Indianapolis, Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, or National City Bank branch through April 17th. At those locations individuals will receive a trash bag and gloves, compliments of KIB. Individuals simply fill the bag with litter from anywhere in their community and place the bag with their weekly trash pickup.

The “Great Indy Cleanup” program and the “Every Litter Bit Helps” campaign function with the belief that gathering together to clean Indy’s neighborhoods helps to foster pride in communities, develop relationships amongst neighbors, and deter crime, making Indianapolis a healthier and more beautiful place to live. To learn more, visit www.greatindycleanup.com.

Join the thousands of volunteers who have signed up to combat heavy litter and debris that has accumulated in public spaces. Participate in the Great Indy Cleanup!

The Great Indy Cleanup is made possible by the City of Indianapolis, Covanta Energy, South Side Landfill and Republic Services.
