November 9, 2007 - Indianapolis - The
Chrysler Foundation donated $20,000 to the Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB)
organization today. The endowment was announced during a keynote speech by
Richard Chow-Wah, Chrysler LLC Vice President -- Powertrain Manufacturing to
the Indiana Economic Club. In his speech, Chow-wah discussed the Company's
long-standing relationship with the State and also the status of its new
axle plant that will be located in Tipton, Ind.
Chrysler is one of the largest employers in the state of Indiana, employing
5,900. The company has four plants in the state: Indiana Transmission 1;
Indiana Transmission 2: Kokomo Casting; and Kokomo Transmission.
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful is a nonprofit dedicated to the beautification
of the city by planting trees, removing litter, adopting street medians and
more. The organization performs more than 500 community projects each year.
The donation will go toward KIB’s
NeighborWoods
program and the purchase of 200 trees for planting in 2008.
"We are pleased to assist Keep Indianapolis Beautiful with their goal of
revitalizing the city for its residents and for visitors,” said Brian
Glowiak, Vice President of The Chrysler Foundation. “At Chrysler we have a
passion for helping the communities where we live and work. Helping the Keep
Indianapolis Beautiful organization refurbish their city is a project that
makes everyone involved feel good.”
“We are so grateful to The Chrysler Foundation for this generous donation
toward our
NeighborWoods campaign,” said Teresa Rhodes, Vice President of
Development and Marketing for Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. “Because of this
greening effort, local residents will be proud and our visitors will have a
great first impression of our city."
