Near Eastside Receives Helping Hand from Katz, Sapper & Miller and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful
More than 200 Katz, Sapper & Miller employees are taking part in a major beautification project along the Pogue’s Run corridor on the city’s Near Eastside today. As part of the firm’s annual volunteer day of community service, and in partnership with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB), this year’s project will support the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Legacy Project’s revitalization efforts for the Near Eastside.

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful will celebrate NeighborWoods month with 20,000th tree planting
On Wednesday, October 20, KIB will celebrate this urban forestry effort by planting the program's 20,000th tree. A little over four years ago, KIB planted its first tree towards their NeighborWoods goal at Washington Irving Elementary School; this year they will return to that location to plant the 20,000th tree with students and community partners. The planting will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Paper Retriever Teams Up With Kroger To Keep Indianapolis Beautiful
Paper Retriever, a community paper-recycling program, has teamed up with Kroger and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) for an initiative aimed at helping raise money through paper recycling. Funds that are earned through the Paper Retriever bins placed at Kroger stores across Indianapolis directly benefit KIB as it engages neighborhoods in community and environmental improvement projects.

500 New Trees for Near Eastside--KIB and Chase Team Up, Dig In
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) will dig into an ambitious project on Saturday, May 15, on the City's Eastside planting native trees within the Pogue's Run conservation corridor. The project is made possible through a $100,000 grant from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation to purchase 500 trees to be planted on the City's Near Eastside. Saturday's project will focus on native tree plantings with to improve the 40 acre wet-land that runs on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

Volunteers to Beautify Historic Southwest Side Building with Live Wall Planting on May 15
On Saturday, May 15, more than 50 patients, board members, friends and family members of HealthNet, West Indianapolis Development Corporation and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful will plant trees and other native landscaping around a 103-year-old former Masonic Lodge on the near southwest side that in June becomes the new home for two community health centers.

Rain Gardens are Introduced to Mass. Ave.
In a precedent setting partnership for environmental stewardship, the city's Office of Sustainability has partnered with the Athenaeum Foundation and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. to develop the City's rain garden permitting process. City staff worked closely with Athenaeum staff on their development of a rain garden in order to create a streamlined procedure for future rain garden projects.

Great Indy Cleanup Kickoff picked up 500,000 pounds of litter in one day!
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc.'s (KIB) kicked off its annual Great Indy Cleanup program in partnership with the City of Indianapolis on Saturday. 90 neighborhood groups with a total of 3,200 volunteers rid the city's streets, alleyways and waterways of half a million pounds of litter.

INHP and KIB to Give Trees and Workshop to New Homeowners
Thirty-six Indianapolis families will receive new trees today and tomorrow through a partnership between Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP) and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB). The trees will be distributed at INHP's Homeownership Center at Glendale (2605 E. 62nd Street, Indianapolis). Those receiving trees will also participate in a special workshop inside the Homeownership Center tomorrow, during which they will learn about the benefits of planting trees and tips for maintaining an environmentally friendly neighborhood.

Local REALTORS Invest $100,000 in Community Development in 2010
12 local economic and community development organizations received an early holiday present – funding from the REALTOR Community Investment Initiative (RCII.) In its fifth giving cycle, RCII--a community-building initiative of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of REALTORS, MIBOR)--funneled another $100,000 into local communities across central Indiana, bringing its total regional investment since its inception to $460,000.

ERM Foundation Supports Project Green Schools
The Environmental Resources Management (ERM) Foundation of North America has awarded Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) a $5,000 grant in support of its Project Green Schools program. The money will go toward the 2010 creation of an outdoor "classroom" at Jonathan Jennings Elementary School (IPS #109), located on the west side of Indianapolis, near West 38th Street and High School Road.
