Evaluation Criteria for Proposed Projects

*3-Year Commitment- Each school or YSO will need to commit to a 3-year partnership. This will ensure that we work only with those who are dedicated to their goal. The longer timeline will help to provide comprehensive and sustainable education for the projects and the partnership as a whole. KIB can discontinue the relationship at our own discretion. After the project is underway, KIB will provide certain elements to ensure a successful relationship. These include, but are not limited to:

-monthly phone calls to the partner to discuss how things are going

-annual visit with the Adult Committee Members to evaluate the previous year and plan for the upcoming year

-help match potential community partners with the school or YSO

-spend approximately 673 hours and roughly $26,750 over 3 years

*Adult Committee Members- Each school or YSO requires the support and interest of 4 adults from varying levels:

-Administrator- Principal, Asst. Principal, Director, support from the top

-Facilitator- Teacher, Program Leader, someone who will be running the overall project

-Community Member- Neighbor, Business Owner, other Community Groups, a friend of KIB's that lives in the area, someone who will help to incorporate the community in the projects

-Head Custodian

The club will serve as an important liaison between KIB and the school or YSO and will act as the managing partner for the proposed projects. Some basic guidelines for the club are

-1 adult leader to facilitate the program. The leader can be a teacher, a community member or even the parent of a student. The leader could also be someone from the Adult Committee.

-1 monthly meeting for club members to discuss and plan upcoming events.

-Members to raise money to perform an annual community service project.

-Can be formed from other existing clubs such as an art club or a science club.

-Kids in the KIB Club will serve as mini-interns to KIB through their service to the school and community and will receive recognition for doing so.

*Landscape Design-This is your blueprint detailing what you want to get done over the next three years. You will pick what you want and we will help you implement it.

-KIB will help a lot with this aspect of the project development by connecting landscape architects with the school and using our own expertise

-it will be up to the partner to decide what they want to get done and detail when they want to do it

*Maintenance Strategy- Each project requires that a maintenance plan be put in place to ensure that it is long-lasting and viable. Future partnerships with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful will be based in part on how well projects are maintained.

*Lesson Plans and Activities- We want you to incorporate curricula-based learning with all of our projects so that the kids can see why they are doing what they are doing.

-KIB will help locate the resources needed and will provide education from our own staff

*Art- Each project partner is encouraged to set aside a space to allow public art to be displayed.

**Please note that these are not cash grants, but project grants. KIB will provide design, materials, and project management while you provide the ideas, volunteers, and future maintenance.  Keep Indianapolis Beautiful reserves the right to adapt all or any component of this proposal, based on the availability of resources (equipment, supplies, financial support, etc.)

Statement of Support
The following statement needs to be signed by the 4-person adult committee:

I have reviewed the proposal and support the implementation or funding of this project as described therein. I understand that the students must be allowed to participate in some manner. I also understand that maintaining the project is crucial, and that the school will create a maintenance plan that will outline the duties of staff and students and the care they will provide for all planted materials.
