Full time, Tuesday through Saturday, this person should expect to work part-time in the office and part-time in the field. Job Description:
The Project Manager works closely with the Green Team to build gateways, pocket parks, and other landscaping projects in partnership with schools, neighborhoods, churches, and not-for-profit organizations. The position is a critical piece to the Green Team approach to GreenSpace projects by bringing them from design to fruition. New projects are selected each year with substantial completion done by November and six new projects have already been chosen for 2013. The Green Team framework includes a community engagement staff person, a KIB-contracted design professional, and representatives from the Arts Council of Indianapolis and/or an identified artist. The Project Manager will assist the engager and designer to review potential designs for sites’ landscape plans, in addition to carrying out these plans.

The projects will be constructed under the lead and supervision of the Project Manager. This person shall complete prep work for projects including tool and volunteer coordination, design layout in the field, pre-construction work (e.g., setting fence posts), and meeting contractors or delivery trucks. Project days will usually be held on Saturdays and involve meeting, instructing, and supervising volunteers, and ensuring that they have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Follow up involves finishing the tasks not completed by volunteers, coordinating follow-up work days, handling any invoicing that is incurred for equipment rental, plant and hardscape purchases, and other incidentals. The Project Manager will manage the budget for each project to ensure that expenses do not exceed income. The Green Team will assist in this when necessary.

This position will work closely with the Green Team to review and revise the GreenSpace application and selection process. This position will also, when appropriate, assist with other KIB programs, including tree plantings through NeighborWoods, and leading projects on the Lilly Day of Service and the Great Indy Cleanup.
