INDIANAPOLIS METROPOLITAN HIGH SCHOOL
Location: 1635 W. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN 46222

Description: A charter school located just west of the White River on the near westside, this campus was in desperate need of some “greening.” When the building was originally used as a Goodwill Industries center, there was a beautiful garden located on the eastside of the grounds. As time wore on, the structure eventually turned into the school we know today and the garden became neglected. Just this year, a teacher at "IndyMet" took interest in the abandoned area and decided something should be done. With the help of KIB, fellow teachers and students the plot is now a fully functioning flower and vegetable garden. There is a gravel pathway lined with small stones that students from the school have painted and benches and picnic tables that the students built. The area also allows for much needed shade in the front of the school where kids can go to hang out and enjoy the environment.
