Indianapolis Power & Light Company supports Keep Indianapolis Beautiful Tree Plantings
Working with Fiserv to encourage e-billing, KIB was awarded a $3,000 grant from the technology company.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 9, 2009) – Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL), in partnership with Fiserv, Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV), the leading global provider of financial services technology solutions, presented Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) with a $3,000 award for encouraging IPL customers to sign up for the paperless billing.
“Many consumers who receive and pay bills online indicate that helping the environment is an important factor in their decision,” said Jardon Bouska, president, Biller Solutions, Fiserv. “Indianapolis Power & Light has invested in technology from Fiserv that allows the company to deliver paperless e-bills, and has encouraged their customers to sign up with a donation to the KIB NeighborWoods program for each new user. These individual donations have a cumulative impact, and together IPL customers have made a positive contribution to their community.”
The award will support tree planting in the St. Joseph neighborhood, near 10th & New Jersey on Saturday, October 10. Tree planting efforts are a par to of KIB’s NeighborWoods program, an initiative to plant 100,000 trees over the ten year period of 2007-2017.
Increased tree plantings can result in increased tree cover, decreased crime and incivility, cleaner air and water, a better business climate, and higher property values. Trees will contribute to a culture of ownership, and will build social capital, as the number of neighbors engaged in improving their neighborhoods grows. Trees will contribute to healthier, stronger, safer neighborhoods where businesses and families thrive.
Volunteers are still needed for the October 10 tree planting. To help, contact Tammy Stevens at email@example.com or 317.264.7555 x116.
