Project Description: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful worked with the WECAN neighborhood to spruce up a traffic island at the intersection of Orange Street, Harlan Street and Pleasant Run Pkwy N. Drive. The city of Indianapolis transformed this barren island with the installation of two rain gardens new curbs and a native landscape. We expanded on that project by planting sugar maples and linden trees in the island and in nearby tree lawns. We successfully encouraged the city to narrow traffic lanes on Harlan Street and install plantable tree lawns on both sides of the street. We will be installing 2 concrete benches and 4 tall concrete planters later this year.
