Project Description: Keep Indianapolis Beautiful worked with the Eagledale/Lafayette Square Area Weed and Seed to transform four medians on Pike Plaza Road between 38th Street and Lafayette Road. We worked with Landscape architect Johnathan Mooney who developed a phased plan to install a combination of Trees, decorative stone, grasses and shrubs. Our partner had funding to water the trees for 3 years but not enough to maintain the other plantings. As such, we planted the trees this year with the hope that we will be able to work with Eagledale Weed and Seed to implement phase 2 of this project at a later date. We planted 18 beautiful London Plane trees during the spring Great Indy Cleanup. These trees were planted in a perfect soldier-row at a regular 35-40’ spacing. Each year these trees will provide ever greater impact on an otherwise desolate landscape.
