CRISPUS ATTUCKS MEDICAL MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL
Address: 1140 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St., 46202, Center Township
School Website: http://www.418.ips.k12.in.us/
General Overview of the School: The Medical Magnet focuses on a holistic approach to teaching and learning. This approach includes a rigorous curriculum that incorporates direct instruction, problem and inquiry-based learning, and scientific methodology in daily instruction. Students will have an on-going opportunity to engage in real world learning situations in the medical and science fields through internships, and shadowing experiences at a variety of local hospitals and medical science facilities.
General Overview of the KIB Club: Led by Phys. Ed. teacher Dan Demeter, the Crispus Attucks KIB Club has roughly 20 members and they meet on a weekly basis to discuss a variety of environmental topics and to plan what will happen on their campus over the next three years with the KIB grant. A few areas of focus for the club are implementing a recycling program at the school, planting more trees around the campus and initiating a litter prevention campaign.
General Overview of Landscape Design Plan: Crispus Attucks has a relatively large campus for their urban setting. Located on the near northwest side of downtown, there is plenty of room for native trees and perennials. On the south side of the school building is a large open turf area that is ready to be developed into a tree grove or raised vegetable beds or even both.
Landscape Architect: TBD
