I am a senior at North Central HS. I am also a member of the Youth Tree Team (YTT).
What neighborhood do you live in?
I live in the Meadows, in Indianapolis. My neighborhood is also near Fall Creek.
What is the most inspiring place in Indianapolis?
Broad Ripple Park inspires me because I spent much of my childhood there. The whole Broad Ripple area is just fantastic in general—kind of artsy and organic at the same time!
How long have you supported Keep Indianapolis Beautiful?
I’ve been on the YTT since 2011.
Why do you support KIB?
I support KIB because it reminds me that life is not all about being popular or rich or famous. It’s about being the change that the world needs. KIB not only creates beautiful communities, but it teaches people how they can continue to make positive change once KIB has done its job. KIB has taught me how to be a leader in other aspects of my life, and it has convinced me that there is nothing more satisfying than making somebody’s day better than it would have been without my help.
What else are you involved in within the community?
Through my school’s Latin Club, I am helping to build a literacy garden at Nora Elementary School. The garden will feature various flowers and vegetables, and there will be shelves of books suitable for all grade levels.
If you were describing KIB to a friend, what three words would you use?
For our future.
