Saturday Work Days Winding Down
Because the weather is getting colder and there is less work to do with trees, Saturday work days are coming to an end.
We stopped watering several weeks ago, but the past few Saturdays the Youth Tree Team has helped out with Tree Plantings around the city. The Youth are a really great asset to the plantings. They start the project out by showing all the volunteers the steps to take to correctly plant and mulch a tree. ( No volcano mulching!) When they are finished with the demonstration they join groups and help knock out the work.
Aside from tree plantings, we have pruned hundreds of trees and mulched dozens more. Last Saturday our group helped Bunker Hill Elementary School with their newly planted apple trees. Most of the trees needed to be staked to keep them standing up right as they grow.
Just two more Saturdays left as we get ready to hibernate for the winter. We will likely start work up again in February.
