Emerging Art(ists) Add Beauty
Beauty is
emerging at Interstate 70 at Holt Road. Thousands of natives plants and trees, added to the landscape just a little more than a year ago, are taking hold, and creating a new experience for thousands of motorists each day. Amongst the native fauna: "Going Home," an art installation by Herron School of Art and Design Masters student Kathryn Armstrong. And Holt Road is just a start!
On October 7th, 8,000 Eli Lilly and Company volunteers will naturalize ten acres of interstate property between the airport and downtown. Yes, on one day, the equivalent in area of a new, wonderful city park will grace the interstate. Three more art installations will soon follow. Generous corporate supporters are sponsoring interchanges, ensuring that these great places will be there for the long haul (not to mention the long haulers...)
It's a pretty powerful thing, as our community--artists, students, corporate leaders, chemists---come together to make our city a more beautiful and better place. Watch, and enjoy with us, a new I-70 emerging!
