General Overview of the KIB Club: Led by business teacher Patrick Burtch, the KIB Club has been underway for some time now as the Eco Club. They meet 2-3 times a month and have an average of 20 attendees at each meeting. Currently, the Eco Club grows and maintains the urban farm on the school campus and serves as the liaison between the school and the community dealing with all matters “Green.” The ECO Club strives to make BDU a more sustainable and eco-friendly school. Their goal is to raise awareness of environmental degradation through education and environmental activism throughout the school and community.
General Overview of Landscape Design Plan: Located on the far west side of Indianapolis, BDU has a very large campus that could use a lot of trees and plenty of perennials. Specifically, there are plans for an expanded vegetable garden and native flower garden. The teachers and administrators are extremely interested in adding native habitat as well.
