DONOR SPOTLIGHT: AUGUST 2011

Beth Gibson
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a long time resident of West Indianapolis and have worked for the West Indianapolis Development Corporation since 2005. As the Community Building Coordinator I work on community initiatives, support the convening of neighborhood residents and other community stakeholders and help oversee the implementation of the West Indianapolis Quality of Life plan. I also provide staff support for the West Indianapolis Community Fund which is a locally managed 501(c) 3 tax-exempt community fund committed to improving the quality of life in West Indianapolis.
I have been married 36 years; have two lovely daughters, two great son-in-laws and four delightful grand-children. I enjoy reading, gardening, cooking and traveling.
Why did you first support KIB?
KIB has played a major role in helping West Indianapolis unite neighbors and transform my community. I want to support the work that KIB does in my neighborhood and throughout the city.
Do you have a favorite KIB experience or memory?
The KIB/KaBOOM pocket park and playground build at School 46 closely followed by the Lilly Days of Service along I70 and the totem installation at Harding Street.
What keeps you involved?
I think the main thing that keeps me involved is being a part of an organization that is transformational.
Do you have a favorite place in the city?
I always enjoy visiting the Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Gardens.
Do you have a favorite flower or tree?
My favorite tree is the Mountain Ash in my backyard. I love the white flowers in the spring and the red berries in the fall and winter.
