Distinguished Donor
of the Year -
Barnes & Thornburg

Barnes & Thornburg is a cash sponsor, but in 2007, its
contributed talents were the thing that moved us from simply the idea
of having a headquarters, to making it a reality.
Barnes & Thornburg attorneys asked questions I
didn’t know to ask; had answers to questions of which I had no clue;
and, methodically, and with much dedication, got KIB through the
incredible number of steps to outline a purchase agreement, wade
through the high weeds of zoning variances and approvals; and, with
the Indiana Brownfields program, to help us through the potential
morass of environmental testing, analysis and strategies to clean up
our building site.
Specifically honored and recognized are Michelle
Kossmann, Spencer Viernes, David Warshauer, and John Kyle, who
together contributed more than $50,000 of time to our building
project. |

Volunteer of the Year
- Stacy Hutson

(right) Stacy Hutson, 2007 Volunteer of the Year |
Stacy Hutson has been a
volunteer for many years and really stands out as an individual and
team member. She began as an individual volunteer on beautification
projects and then in 2005 and 2006 coordinated numerous volunteer groups for KIB through her job at Safeco in addition to volunteering as an
individual. In 2006, she participated in more than eight beautification
projects. But volunteering for KIB projects across the city was not enough
for her.
In 2006, she became involved with KIB through her own
neighborhood, becoming an Operation My Town Adopt-A-Block coordinator and
participating in her neighborhood’s community tree plantings.

|
Even with the new responsibility of neighborhood work, she continued to be
an individual volunteer across the city by participating in more than ten
projects in 2007.
